Right, Operation Wedding Bod is going well. I’m feeling great – much lighter and much more toned. In fact I’m less than 4 kgs away from my goal wedding weight. But things have started to get hard. Anyone who has lost a significant amount of weight will tell you that the last few kilos are the hardest. So I’ve changed up the training – I’ve moved from my lovely women’s only gym which is about a 15 minute drive away to the hardcore girls and boys gym just down the road. I have new machines to play on, new classes to try out and a brand new trainer.

The hardest part about moving gyms was leaving my old trainer behind. She was amazing but I’ve told myself that I must give the new one a chance. So last Saturday was my very first personal training session with my new trainer. First of all the trainer is young, pretty and very slim. I’m not sure how I feel about that but I guess if she can look after herself so well she must know what she is doing! So our first session starts off pretty well – lots of measuring and questions about my lifestyle, the usual. Then we get to my new exercise program – and it is HARD. An hour and half later I am dripping with sweat and can hardly walk, but other than that I feel great. So we book in the next session – a fitness test in 4 days time ‘to really put me through my paces’. My homework – keep a food diary every day until then.

A few days later I am back at the gym for my fitness test, clutching my food diary print outs (have I mentioned how awesome My Fitness Pal is?) I hand them over thinking how good I’ve been, keeping my calories down around 1500 each day. She takes out a highlighter and goes to town showing me everything I have to stop eating. Then she breaks it to me: ‘I’m not going to lie – the next 6 weeks are not going to be easy. No coffee, no alcohol, in fact nothing to drink except water, and lots of it. No fruit after 1pm. Nothing to eat after dinner. Halve your carbs.’ But then she adds, ‘We can do this!’ Right.  Have you looked in the mirror lately? I think you are fine. But I sure as heck can do this. And I will.

Stay tuned for Operation Wedding Bod Pt. 3!
